Figma AI is the collection of AI-powered features embedded within Figma's design platform, covering everything from auto-layout suggestions and AI-driven content generation to background removal, layer renaming, and the ability to expose design context directly to AI coding agents. Rather than a standalone product, Figma AI is a capability layer that enhances the core Figma workflow that design, product, and engineering teams already rely on. Key AI features include: generating UI mockups and design elements from text prompts; generating placeholder copy and content inline; AI-powered search across components, assets, and team libraries; background removal from images; and the AI-to-code context bridge that allows GitHub Copilot and other coding agents to understand the structure of a design file and generate accurate, structured code from it. Figma uses a credit-based system for AI feature consumption. Paid plan users receive between 500 and 4,250 credits per seat per month depending on tier, with shared credit pools available for organisations from March 2026. Figma does not train its foundational AI models on customer design files; AI features use third-party models (primarily from Google and OpenAI) under agreements that prohibit training on customer data. From a compliance perspective, Figma holds SOC 2 Type II certification and is GDPR-compliant. Enterprise and Organisation plan customers can sign a HIPAA Business Associate Agreement, making Figma accessible for healthcare design workflows. SSO with SAML 2.0 (Okta, Azure AD, Google Workspace) and SCIM user provisioning are included on Organisation and Enterprise plans. Figma became a publicly traded company in July 2025 on NYSE under the ticker FIG. Pricing starts at $0 for the Starter plan (limited to 3 Figma files), $12/editor/month (annual) for Professional, $45/editor/month for Organisation, and custom pricing for Enterprise. Organisations relying on AI features should factor in credit consumption alongside seat costs, as high-volume AI usage by design teams will require credit top-ups once monthly allowances are exhausted.
